Here are my unsolicited advice to President-Elect Rodrigo Duterte for his initial days in power:
1. Be a leader of Reconciliation and not of Vengeance. Do not allow your administration to be used as a platform to settle long-running petty family feuds.
2. Do not touch the Constitution.
3. Do not touch the Judiciary.
4. Do not antagonize your opponents in the Senate and Congress.
5. Do not provoke the Military Establishment by implementing Leftist policies and packing your administration with your Leftist friends (a few is okay, but a lot will be provocative).
6. Do not just continue the on-going AFP Modernization, expand it.
7. Do not say or do anything that would make you appear like a stooge of Communist China.
8. Uncle Sam has the biggest muscle in our neighborhood. Make sure you remain friends.
9. Do not do anything that would scare the Business Community, both local and foreign.
10. Be discrete with your activities with the opposite sex.
11. Stop bragging about your "kills" in public. You are now the President of the 12th largest country in the world, not just a City Mayor.
12. Select the best and the brightest for your cabinet. And make sure you listen to them.
13. Focus your initial attention on fighting street crime and enforcing road discipline, areas where you have historically performed your best.
14. Repeal K-12.
15. Pray to God for help. I'm sure you will need it.
Wow. The nerve to throw do's and don't's towards Mayor huh? And the way you deliver those points huh? wWho the hell are you to dictate him? Where and what are the rationales of all those 15 points you just pointed out? Are you just fearful of how he does his thing? Or are you just but a plain anti-duterte?
ReplyDeleteMy advice towards the author, just buckle up and enjoy the ride towards the better Philippines just like what he did here at Davao. I know it's quite nerve racking by the way he approach certain issues, and plus the fact that MAYBE the way the black propaganda attacks towards Duterte from the media gave a huge toll on you. It's just plain ignorance. Trust me, he's never been like that.
P.S. He's better kind of a human being from what you assume him to be.
Good to hear that he's NEVER BEEN LIKE THAT. I beg to differ, sir lawyer. I only make comments of what I've seen and heard coming from his mouth. And a lot of those were ugly.

ReplyDeleteThere are always dos and don'ts for everyone. Even for one who had just been elected President. Whether one will pay attention to the message, or to the messenger instead, will largely be determined by one's intelligence and emotional quotients.
